Who we are
Relaxed Travels Over 50 is run by Andy and Alison in the United Kingdom. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website. You can contact us at any time by emailing info@relaxedtravelsover50.com or through our contact page.
What we collect and why
- Email sign-up: if you sign up for our monthly email, we collect your email address (and your name if you give it) so we can send you what you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Contact form: if you message us, we collect your name, email address and message so we can reply.
- Comments: if you leave a comment, we collect your name, email address, the comment itself and your IP address. Comments may be checked by an automated spam-filtering service (Akismet). If you have a Gravatar profile, your profile picture may be shown next to your comment.
- Website statistics: we use Jetpack Stats and Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular. This helps us improve the site. These tools may use cookies and collect information such as your device, browser, rough location and the pages you view.
Our legal basis
Under UK data protection law, we rely on your consent for email sign-ups and non-essential cookies, and on our legitimate interests for replying to messages, preventing spam and keeping the website secure.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies, needed for the website to work and stay secure.
- Analytics cookies, from Jetpack Stats and Google Analytics, to count visits.
- Affiliate cookies. When you click an affiliate link, the company you visit (for example a hotel booking site) may set a cookie so they can tell that you came from us. This is set on their website, under their own privacy policy.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you block essential cookies.
Who we share information with
We never sell your personal information. We only share it with the services that run this website on our behalf:
- WordPress.com / Automattic, which hosts the website and sends our emails (including Jetpack, Akismet and Gravatar)
- Google, for website statistics
Some of these companies may process information outside the UK, using safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
Embedded content and links
Articles may include embedded content such as maps or videos, and links to other websites. These behave as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep information
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe. We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. Comments are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To make a request, email us at info@relaxedtravelsover50.com or use our contact page.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
Stay22 and the cookie bar
We use a tool called Stay22 so that, when you book a hotel through one of our Booking.com links, we earn a small commission. It only switches on if you tap Accept on the cookie bar at the bottom of the page. If you tap No thanks, it stays off and our links still work as normal.
We remember your answer for six months in one small cookie that holds nothing else. You can change it at any time with the Cookie choices link at the bottom of every page. There’s more in About cookies.
